A French tourist named Duchaufour lost his mobile phone to a thief while walking through the historic district of Kota Tua in Tamansari, West Jakarta. The police acted with speed. They caught the man and returned the phone. Duchaufour praised the officers for their efficient and human touch on Tuesday.

"Thank you to the police because this was a big problem for me," Duchaufour said. "The police helped me, they were very friendly, and they managed to solve the problem I had. Thank you very much." The theft occurred on Monday afternoon while the traveler was observing the old city.

According to Police Chief Commissioner Bobby M Zulfikar of the Polsek Metro Tamansari, the suspect was a 27-year-old man identified by the initials AH. The suspect snatched the phone from the tourist and fled into the crowded streets. The victim went straight to the Pinangsia Police Post to report the crime.

Based on the official report, the police deployed immediately and scoured the surrounding area. They found the suspect still lurking in Kota Tua on the same day. Investigators believed the man was searching for another victim when they apprehended him. The stolen phone was recovered before it could be sold.

The suspect told the investigators this was his first robbery. Further inspection revealed a deeper trouble. A urine test showed the suspect was positive for methamphetamine. He confessed to the police that he intended to sell the stolen phone to buy more drugs. The police are continuing their investigation into other crimes in the area.
