Authorities have now revealed the reason behind his bizarre demeanor. The suspect was under the heavy influence of narcotics.

"Yes, he was smiling because he used meth," Dewi stated on Tuesday, 7 July 2026. She added that the suspect had taken the substance right around the time he attacked the victim.
Based on official statements, the police conducted a urine test on the suspect following his apprehension. The laboratory results returned positive for methamphetamine. This confirmed the initial suspicions of the responding officers at the Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan on Monday.
The violent incident took place on Saturday, 4 July 2026, at approximately 11:30 AM local time. The victim reported that his motorcycle was repeatedly struck from behind by the suspect's vehicle. When the victim confronted the rider, the suspect grew enraged and launched a physical assault, striking the victim multiple times.
The victim suffered contusions and severe pain to the left side of his jaw from the unprovoked beating. Following the assault, the police swiftly apprehended Fredik Risya Samuel and formally designated him as a criminal suspect.
The investigation has now expanded beyond the assault. Investigators are currently tracking the source of the illicit drugs. Commissioner Nurma Dewi noted that the police are developing the case to locate the dealer where the suspect purchased the methamphetamine, and multiple individuals will be questioned.
