Only two of the three regular lanes remained open to traffic. The reduction caused vehicles to move slowly, particularly during the peak morning and evening hours. Traffic officers stood near the construction site to guide the alternate flow of vehicles and keep the road functional.
According to Siti Dinarwenny, the head of the Data and Information Center at the Dinas Bina Marga DKI Jakarta, workers are currently executing the first phase of the project in the middle lane. Once the first phase is complete, the work will shift to the right lane for the second phase, followed by the left lane for the third phase.
Based on official statements, the infrastructure rehabilitation spans 345 meters from Wisma Penta to the BNPP RI building. Dinas Bina Marga DKI held public briefings with residents, business owners, and regional officials on July 6, 2026, to ensure transparency before the machinery arrived.
The regional department stated that the upgrades will make Jalan Kebon Sirih stronger and safer for long-term use. Authorities expect the completed project to improve local mobility, enhance the urban landscape, and support commercial activities in the heart of the capital city.
