The police moved against corruption in South Jakarta on Wednesday. They targeted four to five locations stretching from Kuningan to Sudirman. Houses and offices fell under their scrutiny as investigators sought evidence for three distinct corruption cases.

According to Jakarta Metro Police Spokesperson Kombes Budi Hermanto, the raids struck several key areas. "For now, there are about four to five points in the South Jakarta area, including several points in Pacific Place, and also in the Kuningan and Sudirman areas," Budi Hermanto said at a raid location in Cipete.

The search led officers to De'Clan cafe in Cipete. Inside the establishment, investigators discovered a significant hoard of cash. The money was held in foreign currencies, specifically Singapore dollars and US dollars. The authority did not disclose the exact amount.

A nearby money changer in Cipete was also targeted by the police. The authorities suspected the business served as a tool for illicit financial flows. Based on the police statement, the money changer was allegedly used as a facility for money laundering activities connected to the broader graft schemes.

The operations followed direct mandates from the highest level of government. Kombes Budi Hermanto stated that investigating corruption within PLN, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel is a priority for President Prabowo Subianto. The police aimed to gather firm evidence to build their cases.

The investigations cover bribery, gratifications, and money laundering. According to the police, the raids are linked to corruption in the PLN coal supply which caused a recent blackout in Sumatra, as well as ongoing cases at ASABRI and Krakatau Steel. The joint operation involved the Corruption Eradication Core Task Force and the Jakarta Metro Police.
