Hundreds of residents gathered at the grounds of the Monumen Pers Nasional in Solo on Monday morning. They came to watch the broadcast of the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina. The Ministry of Communication and Digital organized the event alongside TVRI to celebrate the 81st Independence Day of Indonesia under the banner of celebrating freedom and unity.

According to officials, the government held simultaneous screenings in several cities including Medan and Solo. Attendees in Solo listened to live music, received door prizes, and shared free food and drinks before the match. The gathering brought a strong sense of community to the historical landmark.

Based on remarks made via a digital link from Medan, Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid greeted the crowd in Solo. She stated that the event aimed to promote sportsmanship and national unity through sports. The initiative reflected the wish of President Prabowo Subianto to bring the excitement of global football to all citizens.

The large crowd also supported local street vendors around the venue. A local seller named Hendra reported that his sales tripled during the event compared to regular days. He expressed hope that public gatherings would continue at the Monumen Pers Nasional to bolster small businesses in Solo.
