Varying Roles and Wild Meat Consumption Motif Exposed by Police

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ketut Suwarne (50), Wayan Supatre (30), Tri Suharyanto (45), and Made Putra Yasa (43). The wildlife incident drew widespread public condemnation on social media after video footage of the animal's distress went viral, prompting immediate law enforcement action to track down the group.

Mesuji Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Muhammad Firdaus disclosed that interrogations revealed a coordinated division of labor among the suspects. The group specifically targeted the rare mammal after it strayed into a public corridor, leaving it with no route of escape from the hunters.

"Their roles varied significantly during the attack; KS acted as the spearman, WS chased down the tapir, TS performed the slaughter, and MPS provided the machete while also participating in the butchering," Firdaus stated. The authorities have seized the weapons used during the encounter as material evidence for the upcoming criminal proceedings.

Investigations into the underlying motive confirmed that the poaching ring was driven purely by the intent to harvest and consume the protected animal's meat. Law enforcement agencies are currently intensifying their search operations to locate and capture the remaining two suspects who fled the scene during the initial raid.
