Casualties Mount in Khan Younis and Gaza City Despite Truce

A series of targeted Israeli drone strikes hit multiple locations across the blockaded enclave on Monday, devastating residential areas and temporary shelters. Medical sources confirmed that the operations spanned from the southern region of Khan Younis to dense urban quarters in Gaza City, leaving a trail of destruction and renewed panic among local residents.

Among the latest casualties, an Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle on al-Rashid Street in Khan Younis, killing two people. Another strike hit a tent encampment for displaced families in the nearby al-Mawasi humanitarian zone, claiming two more lives, while a married couple perished when a drone struck an apartment building near al-Shifa Hospital.

The deadly escalations persist despite a United States-brokered 'ceasefire' formally agreed upon by Israel and Hamas last October. While large-scale military maneuvers have largely subsided, local health officials emphasize that intermittent drone warfare and shelling continue to inflict heavy civilian casualties.

Data from the Gaza Ministry of Health indicates that ceasefire violations have claimed at least 1,072 lives and wounded 3,463 people since the truce began. These latest fatalities push the comprehensive death toll in the territory since October 2023 to 73,098, with over 173,000 others injured.
